Top 5 Favorite Recut Movie Trailers

What would a movie be like if it wasn't itself? Does that question even make sense? Anyway, I really like watching the ways that people have recut movies into trailers that are the polar opposite of how the movie was originally intended. I've decided to compile a short list of my favorite such trailers.

Honorable Mention: 40 Year Old Murderer

Seth Rogan's character called it. Steve Carrell's character did, in fact, seem like a serial killer. This recut takes the comedy to a new place and turns it into a thriller.

5. Ferris Bueller Drama

What if Ferris Bueller's Day Off was turned from a light-hearted film about a high-schooler skipping school to a tale about a young man who was dealt a crappy hand with failing kidneys? This recut turns Ferris Bueller into a tissue-worthy drama.

4. Lion King Horror

This recut uses clips from both Lion King and Lion King 2: Simba's Pride to recreate a blockbuster horror film. Simba and Kovu go crazy and bring terror to Pride Rock. Coincidentally, this is the second film in this list that stars Matthew Broderick in some capacity.

3. 2001 A Space Odyssey Blockbuster

If 2001: A Space Odyssey was pitted against the likes of The Avengers or The Dark Knight Rises, this might be the result.

2. The Shining Rom Com

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. It also leaves him without love and companionship. This recut implements just the right voice over and music to make it seem like a romantic comedy. Jack Nicholson is no stranger to them, having starred in both As Good As It Gets and Something's Gotta Give in the late 1990s and early 2000s, respectively.

1. My absolute favorite... Scary Mary

Who is Mary Poppins anyway? She comes out of nowhere and starts meddling in the lives of the Banks family. George thinks she's a nuisance and the kids think she's magical. In this recut, however, she's Scary Mary.
