Local theater is something that has always interested me and I was delighted that director Kathy Hobbs contacted me about a production that is being launched here in Lexington at the end of July. Doctor! WHO is the Murderer? is a murder mystery set at a Doctor Who convention. Performed by Lexington-based theater troupe Fantastical Theatricals, this WHO-dunnit features The Doctor, The Master, and a zany cast of characters that will sure to be a crowd-pleaser for both Whovians and non-fans alike. In addition to their performances in Lexington, the group travels to many Kentucky state parks.
Cascade Cadenza (who is working under an assumed name) is hosting a Doctor Who convention and has invited several currently earthbound former companions to be panelists. All the panelists, and Cascade as well, hope that the event will bring a Very Special Guest of Honor. But- OH NO!!! The Security Guy is NOT the security guy after all. He's actually an evil Master of Disguise, and Our Very Special Guest of Honor's arch nemesis! And he has a dastardly plan to take over the world- beginning with THIS room!
Just as The Master (OD) has put his evil plan into motion, someone dies! In his grief, our Very Special Guest of Honor accuses the panelists, and Cascade of MURDER! With the help of the audience he does his best to find the murderer. Can he do it? Will you help? Well then! Allons-y!
Get involved as much or as little as you like, enter the costume contest, help solve the mystery or just sit back and watch the fun as you enjoy your meal.The show is suitable for ages 6 and older. The cast includes Cast list includes Mary Brouse, Sasha Halvorsen, Pete Sears, Kathy Hobbs and Tom Phillips as The Doctor. Fantastical Theatricals will be performing a Scooby Doo themed mystery in November and and past shows include Blazing Sabers, a mystery of galactic proportions, topped off with dueling phasers and lightsabers. I'm actually sad that I missed that one!
Originally contracted to write and perform Doctor! WHO is the Murderer?!? for Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Park, July 18 &19, Fantastical Theatricals is bringing this show to Lexington Whovians at The Chop House, for selected dates beginning July 24th and running through August 2.
You'll actually be able to see the performance at two different locations. You can check it out at Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Park or The Chop House. I'd highly recommend seeing the performance at Blue Licks if you can make it up there. Though I've never seen a performance at that particular location, I've seen shows at other state parks and it's always been a very fun experience.

Just wanted to thank you for posting this. We took my boyfriend's kids (8 and 12 year old Dr. Who fanatics) to this last night at Bluelick and enjoyed ourselves so much :-)
