Cover Reveal: The Woken Gods by Gwenda Bond

Book covers are awesome things, y'all. They're especially awesome when they come from authors as fantastic as Gwenda Bond. The author of Blackwood, which has been optioned for a TV series from MTV by the way, has just released the cover for her new book The Woken Gods. Gwenda lives in Lexington, KY and graciously donated a book to the LCTC raffle back in March, which she hand delivered to me at the convention center... because she is just that fabulous. Seriously, y'all, she is one of the nicest people I have ever met and not only is she charming in real life, she's charming on Twitter too! Be sure to follow her @Gwenda. (Major props to her with a kick-ass name, too. What I wouldn't give to be @Natasha - or hell @kygeekgirl for that matter.)

I mean, seriously, what a gorgeous cover! The black and gold, the text, the symbolism. Washington D.C.! The capitol! This book is going to be amazing. Check out the book's synopsis (and a link to the prologue and a giveaway) after the break!

ABOUT THE WOKEN GODS

Five years ago, the gods of ancient mythology awoke around the world.

This morning, Kyra Locke is late for school.

Seventeen-year-old Kyra lives in a transformed Washington, D.C., home to the embassies of divine pantheons and the mysterious Society of the Sun. But when rebellious Kyra encounters two trickster gods on her way back from school, one offering a threat and the other a warning, it turns out her life isn’t what it seems. She escapes with the aid of Osborne "Oz" Spencer, an intriguing Society field operative, only to discover that her scholar father has disappeared with a dangerous relic. The Society needs it, and they don’t care that she knows nothing about her father's secrets.

Now Kyra must depend on her wits and the suspect help of scary gods, her estranged oracle mother, and, of course, Oz – whose first allegiance is to the Society. She has no choice if she’s going to recover the missing relic and save her father. And if she doesn't? Well, that may just mean the end of the world as she knows it.

From the author of Blackwood comes a fresh, thrilling urban fantasy that will appeal to fans of Neil Gaiman, Cassandra Clare, and Rick Riordan.

"Unique, fast-paced, and rife with tension, The Woken Gods brilliantly pits loyalty against survival, trust against inevitability, and love against fear." - Carrie Ryan, New York Times bestselling author of The Forest of Hands and Teeth series.

I simply cannot wait to read this book. Blackwood is next in my To-Read queue and I promise I will do a review as soon as I'm finished! I have already heard spectacular things about it and I'm sure The Woken Gods will be no different. You can preorder this book from your favorite independent bookstore. I suggest Joseph Beth and The Morris Bookshop.

The Woken Gods will be available from Strange Chemistry, the YA imprint of Angry Robot books, on September 3. Check out Gwenda's site for more information on The Woken Gods including a chance to win both it and Blackwood as well as the prologue! I may ask Gwenda nicely to see if I can host a giveaway on down the line too!
