Sherlock Gets the Musical Treatment
It's been two years since the end of Sherlock series 2 and we've been left with many unanswered questions. With Series 3 starting tomorrow, I thought I'd share a couple of amazing musical offerings that I came across thanks to the wonderful world of Tumblr.

My Favorite Things: Many Happy Returns
While raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens are splendid in their own right, there is a multitude of awesome things out in the world. As Christmas approaches, I thought I'd take a look at some of these in a series I'm calling My Favorite Things.
Sherlock fans, prepare to meet thy feels once again!

Sherlock Holmes has been one of my favorite literary characters for as long as I can remember. Though I was late to the BBC Sherlock party back in 2012, I feel like I jumped into the fandom and never looked back. (I'm also particularly fond of the Guy Ritchie movies starring RDJ and Jude Law!) We Sherlockians were given a Christmas gift today by the BBC, a prequel minisode titled "Many Happy Returns."

Stuff That Doesn't Suck 11
Stuff That Doesn’t Suck is a meme where I graciously share with you the things that I come across in a week that do not suck. This includes a variety of things from books to music to YouTube and even more. Feel free to join in on the comments or on your own blog.
Portions of this edition of Stuff That Doesn't Suck have been sitting in my draft folder for a month or so, so they've been making their way around the Interwebs. I still wanted to share them because reasons.

Less Cumberbatch in Star Trek Into Darkness Teaser
That's a sad title to write, to be honest. With the first teaser and trailer (not to mention the nine minute prologue) featuring the decalescent voice of the Sherlock star, I was expecting full-on Cumberbaction. However, this teaser was rather devoid of his character, supposedly named John Harrison. Rather, it focused much more on Kirk and even had some nice Christopher Pike moments. Video after the break.

Around the Web: BBC Sherlock Theme Goes Metal
This weekend, my friend Becky shared the link to an amazing video over on the Twitter, but I wasn't able to watch it until this afternoon. As a now die-hard Sherlockian (I think that's what the fandom is calling itself nowadays) and devoted Cumberfan, I wanted to share it as well. YouTuber 331Erock has taken done metal covers of many favorites, including the James Bond theme. Here, he's adapted the score from Michael Price and David Arnold of the BBC series Sherlock. As a fan of people taking something and turning it into something even more awesome, I totally approve. Bonus video after the jump.
Apparently 331Erock is no stranger to BBC series, having adapted the Doctor Who theme to a metal version last year. It's ... cool.

Benedict Cumberbatch supports literacy!
I've recently been indoctrinated into the world of absolutely loving Sherlock with all of my being. Seriously. I watched both Series One and Two in the last week and I am hooked for life. The show is just brilliant and I will rave about it forever. My friend Cherise introduced me to this amazing video of the show's star, Benedict Cumberbatch, reading the children's book "Little Red Hen." "Little Red Hen" isn't so much a fairytale as it is a morality story about hard work. If you do not work for something you won't receive the rewards. He reads it in the most wonderful way. Before beginning the book, he has this to say about reading:
"Reading is one of the joys of life and once you begin you can't stop. You've got so many stories to look forward to."
Enjoy!

At one point Benicio Del Toro was involved, but recently Benedict Cumberbatch of BBC's Sherlock (SWOON!!!1one) has landed a role. IMDB has already put him in the role of Khan Noonien Singh portrayed by Ricardo Montalban on The Original Series and in subsequent films. Cumberbatch is not confirming that he is the film's villain, however.

What do you think the plot of this sequel will be? Do you think Benedict Cumberbatch will play Khan?
