Fans of Welcome to Night Vale, rejoice! Cecil, Carlos, and the cast of characters returns to Kentucky for a live performance on May 12 at Louisville's Bomhard Theater at The Kentucky Center. Tickets to the 2014 event sold quickly, so be sure to order yours soon!
Welcome to Night Vale is a twice-monthly podcast which can be described as "A Prairie Home Companion" meets Gaiman and Lovecraft. The podcast, presented as a radio program, provides community updates for the small desert town of Night Vale featuring local weather, news, announcements from the Sheriff's Secret Police, mysterious lights in the sky, dark hooded figures with unknowable powers, and cultural events. The show is hosted by Cecil, with secondary characters voiced by guest stars such as Mara Wilson and Wil Wheaton.
WTNV released its 61st episode on February 1, so there's plenty of time to get caught up before the May 12 performance. Tickets are available now and can be purchased through Ticketmaster. If you're unable to make it to the Louisville show, Cincinnati is a comparable drive from Central Kentucky. And for those who really want to drive to Cleveland, you can do that too.

The Eclectic Geek Podcast: Episode 0
I love podcasting and have had the opportunity to do it a time or two in the last couple of years. So, Leila of The Fandomonium and I decided that we should start our own! On Episode 0 of The Eclectic Geek Podcast we introduce ourselves, share our geeky loves, some things that you might expect from our show, and go off on some random tangents as we are prone to do. We look forward to having guests, our geeky friends, and discussing topics that are relevant to geek culture.
You'll be able to access TEGP through Kentucky Geek Girl, The Fandomonium, and on the show's page on Podomatic.

Lexington Comic & Toy Con: This Was A Triumph
I attended a couple of conventions last year which were really well attended, but at Lexington Comic & Toy Convention I got to experience things from the other side: I had my very own booth. For those of you who were there, you know how absolutely busy things were all day long, but that craziness proved to be great success for all those involved. The attendees totaled over 4000! This is a phenomenal turnout considering that this was the first year of the convention and LCTC was only held for one day, from 10 - 5. With only 250 VIP tickets sold, that is an amazing figure. I was so impressed by the costumes that people were wearing. They ran the spectrum of Marvel and DC, Soviet Russian, and many, many Mandalorians!
The day was full of events for the con-goers like a Q & A panel with the Power Rangers as well as panels with Mike Grell and Mark Ryan, an MMA demonstration from Jason David Frank, and the costume contest. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to attend any of those, but I did get to talk to so many wonderful people at the KGG table. I want to personally thank everyone for stopping by and saying hello. I hope everyone enjoys the GEEKSOAP, shot glasses, t-shirts, and mugs. I really appreciate the interest so hopefully there will be something just as awesome!

Check out KGG on Completely Comics: Bonus Episode: Completely Who Is Under The Hood?
I know that Will and Troy of Completely Comics are as excited about Lexington Comic & Toy Convention as I am, so I phoned in to the show let them know what I'll be doing at the convention: giving away free stuff! They'll be roaming the floor at the convention so be sure to say hello!
On this bonus episode of Completely Comics, the guys talk about the season finale of The Walking Dead that aired on Sunday (AND HOLY COW WHAT A CRAZY EPISODE IT WAS!) and answer some of the questions that were raised. Please note that the episode does contain spoilers, so be sure to listen to it when you've watched Sunday's finale.
I talked to them about the giveaways that I'll have at LCTC, including GEEKSOAP, as well as items from Apex Publications and Morris Bookshop. Look for a post later with the specifics about what you can win! HUGE thanks to Troy and Will for having me on again.
In addition to this week's bonus episode, be sure to check out their convention preview, where they talk to Jarrod Greer, the organizer of LCTC!
Check out their website, Facebook, and Twitter pages for more info!

LCTC Spotlight: Beaucoup Pop
A few months ago, I finally met the wonderful team of Beaucoup Pop after a year of reading their blog and listening to the podcast. They've been hugely supportive of Kentucky Geek Girl and it's awesome to be part of the Lexington geek scene with them. BP is a podcast in which the hosts Justin, Tressa, Matt, and Kerry share their loves: movies, comics, music, books, anime, video games, TV, manga, board games. Like with what I like to do here at KGG, they pimp out the things that they think are awesome on their weekly podcast and through their blog. You can subscribe to their podcast through iTunes or listen to it on their Libsyn page! While they do have a page which you can like, the real action takes place in their group on Facebook. You can also follow them on Twitter for updates in 140 characters.

Stuff That Doesn't Suck (4)
Advice Show on the Web That Doesn't Suck
My Brother, My Brother and Me is an advicecast where three real life brothers answer the hard hitting questions like "What's the difference between anorexic and balsamic?" with wit and wisdom. Justin, Travis, and Griffin McElroy pull questions from the comedy platinum mine that is Yahoo! Answers as well as internet submissions. I listened to it for the first time this week, though I've seen Griffin tweet and Facebook about it before and I must say that I've been missing out. Some of the questions are weird and some are just downright absurd, but the McElroy brothers are funny and insightful with their answers. I'm definitely subscribing to the podcast and will go back and listen to the episodes that I've missed. Justin and Griffin are both editors for Joystiq so check out their articles over there!

This a brief sampling of what their show is all about.
Little Boy Singing to Lady Gaga That Doesn't SuckI love Youtube videos. I'm kind of addicted, actually and I'm really sad that I didn't find this first. Lady Gaga posted this the other day on her Facebook account. She's been very supportive of people singing her music, especially kids. I love Lady Gaga and I think she's really very talented, albeit a bit crazy. Timmy has a Youtube channel called TheManiaMusic. His first upload was a rendition of Bad Romance in his kitchen which seemed kind of spontaneous, but his later videos are much more calculated. In his latest video for "Judas" he's on point. The kid is actually very good, my coworkers and I agree that he's much better than Britney Spears, if that qualifies anything. He has great pitch and time and can dance and sing simultaneously, which again makes him top Britney Spears.
This is an abbreviated edition of Stuff That Doesn't Suck, mainly because I forgot to put one out on Saturday, even though I said that Saturday wouldn't be the regular day to do it. Oops. Anyway, I'll be back for another post later this week. In the meantime, what hasn't sucked for you this week?
