Guest Post: What Frozen Means to Me by Leila McGuire

After months of me waiting to dish with her about it, she's finally watched Frozen and I had a proud parent moment. I think I need more than one hand to count the number of times that we've watched it since it came out on DVD. And since I got the Bluray combo pack for Easter, I suspect we'll be watching it in hi-def glory soon. I'm so pleased that she has written a post in which I thinks she shares what most of us feel about this amazing Disney feature. Take it away, Leila!

---
I’m 27 years old and I am hopelessly addicted to Frozen.

There I said it. But if you don’t mind, I will be avoiding the twelve step program this time. The addiction to Frozen is beautiful, full of hope, and empowering.

Trailer Tuesday: A Hodgepodge of Fall/Winter Releases

Coming this week will be two reviews of movies that I found to be just excellent: Red 2 and Pacific Rim. Pacific Rim was released this past weekend, and the follow-up to the 2010 Bruce Willis movie comes out on the 19th. I was very, very disappointed that Grown Ups 2 and Despicable Me 2 beat out Pacific Rim, especially because the Adam Sandler vehicle was so critically panned. It slightly infuriates me. Trailers after the break!

‘Once’ Casts Sleeping Beauty and Mulan for Sophomore Season

This article was featured on Word of the Nerd Online on July 7, 2012.

The fantasy drama Once Upon a Time is gearing up for San Diego Comic Con with several announcements regarding casting for the show's sophomore season. The May season finale drew nearly ten million viewers and the series promises to be just as intriguing for season two. Once, which returns in September 2012, takes viewers into the world of their favorite fairy tales, shifting back and forth between "the real world" and a fantasy world made up of characters from classic Disney stories. The season ended with Snow and Charming discovering their true identities and Mr. Gold/Rumpelstiltskin returning magic to the world. His actions will more than likely bring about dire consequences.

Amazing one woman a capella Disney medley

I've made it no secret that I am a Disney fanatic. Growing up in the 90s, we had awesome movies like The Little Mermaid (which came out in 1989, but I digress), Hercules, The Lion King, Pocahontas, and the list of wonderful animated features which goes on and on. Something that is just as amazing as experiencing a Disney film is having the soundtrack to sing along to. I'm completely guilty of belting out refrains from my favorite songs (and usually singing the accompaniment in true a capella fashion.)

Disney meets the Lantern Corps

This is one mashup that I wouldn't have predicted, but that totally makes sense. SilverwingFox posted this rendering of the Lantern Corps on his DeviantArt account. He provided explanation for why he chose a particular character and they totally fit. Even though my favorite Disney Princess is Ariel, I totally get why he chose her for the Orange Lantern. Hope you all enjoy this!

Red Lantern Stitch-Based off his initial behavior
Orange Lantern Ariel-She's a horder, and incredibly selfish within the context of her own movie
Yellow Lantern Jack Skellington-He likes to inspire fear
Green Lantern Mulan-Most Disney characters fall under Will, so I just picked Mulan and gave her a Jedi ish outfit
Blue Lantern Beast-He has a lot of hope. And don't ask for what smartass
Indigo Lantern Aladdin - he's very compassionate, even more so in the series, so he fits
Star Sapphire Jessica Rabbit-She has great love for her husband
Black Lantern Flynn/Eugene Ryder-Fitzherbert-He died and came back to life, it's a no brainer
and White Lantern Rapunzel-She brought Flynn back to life, also DUH
