My Favorite Things: Epic Hiddles vs Cumberbatch Dance-off

While raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens are splendid in their own right, there is a multitude of awesome things out in the world. As Christmas approaches, I thought I'd take a look at some of these in a series I'm calling My Favorite Things.

Okay, so this isn't actually Christmas themed, but both Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hiddleston rank highly among my favorite people in all of time and space. So, when this video began making its rounds on the Intarwebs, I thought it would be perfect for inclusion in this series. Because let's face it, why wouldn't an epic dance-off mashup video featuring Hiddles and Jinglebell Christmaswreath* be the stuff fangirl dreams are made of?

This week certainly has been a busy one. As I prepare to move, I've been packing like a mad woman, cleaning, and trying not to freak out. So, I'm very happy that I found some things this week that brought me joy and a bit of an escape from the stress of moving. Speaking of bringing joy, Leila and I recorded a nre episode of The Eclectic Geek Podcast this week and we had a lot of fun with it, so be sure to have a listen.

Trailer Tuesday 11/15

Okay, so I've got a bunch of movies that I need to see soon including Twelve Years a Slave, About Time, and Thor: The Dark World. Catching Fire doesn't come out for a couple of weeks, but I'm anxiously awaiting it. And of course The Day of the Doctor, which will be in theaters one night only on Monday, November 25. There are still quite a few movies that are coming out before year's end that I'm eager to see, including Frozen (which I will see because it's Disney then I'll pass judgement), August: Osage County, and Saving Mr. Banks.

In fact, Christmas Day is going to be an all-out grudge match with The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, August: Osage County, The Wolf of Wall Street, and American Hustle all opening against each other. I suppose there will be something for everyone.

If Good Omens Got A Movie Deal...

A few years ago, I read the book Good Omens. I was in middle school and had little idea of how important Neil Gaiman would be in my later geek years, all I knew was that I absolutely loved the book. I have been looking for a reason to re-read it, and I think I may have found it. I saw this on Tumblr just the other day with credits to user prufrocking as the source for this poster. Good on you, whomever made this!

The poster features War Horse costars Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hiddleston as Aziraphale and Crowley, respectively. These two characters attempt to thwart the plans for the coming of the Anti-Christ. Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch is actually a collaboration between Neil Gaiman and another master of fantasy, Terry Pratchett. It is a fantastic read and if you are looking for a book recommendation, then consider this a top one from me. And what of this casting?! I just adore Benedict Cumberbatch and I think that Tom Hiddleston is quite a fine actor in his own right.
