We are back for another episode of The Eclectic Geek Podcast, the podcast for the geek who loves everything. On this week's show we are talking comic book movies. We share our favorites, Leila dishes about movies that are almost 10 years old and we both blubber through terrible pronunciations of names and calling people by the wrong name. Amazing Spider-Man Secrets Unmasked Tour Swings Into Kentucky

To get ready for what they are calling the biggest movie event of the Summer, Marvel Entertainment, Walmart Stores, and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment have kicked off the Amazing Spider-Man Secrets Unmasked tour which will travel around the country promoting the film, which hits theaters on July 3, the Amazing Spider-Man game (which looks like a PS3 exclusive), and other sponsors. I just happened to be at the Richmond Road Walmart here in Lexington this afternoon as the truck was packing up, but I got some information on what the tour had in store.

Four Minute Preview for Amazing Spider-Man Released

The buzz is strong with this one. Coming off the heels of The Avengers will be Marvel's next origin story, The Amazing Spider-Man, which is said to provide the "untold story" of Peter Parker's origins. Last night on the season premiere of America's Got Talent, a four minute preview of this film was shown and has taken the web by storm. The clip shows Parker in his official role as Spider-Man and the lengths at which he will go to save the day. Video after the break.

Williams-Sonoma unveils the Marvel Kitchen Collection

When I saw the Star Wars accessories last year, I was ecstatic. Last week, on their facebook page, Williams-Sonoma posted about superhero cookie decorating classes held at their stores. After a brief moment of sadness for missing such an amazing event, I delved into the Williams-Sonoma website in order to take a look at why they would host superhero decorating classes (okay... why wouldn't they?!) The reason: The Marvel Kitchen Collection! Holy fondant, Batman! These new items look freaking awesome.

Movie Review Captain America: The First Avenger

I've been a Marvel girl most of my life. It all started with reading Spiderman at the soda fountain of a local drug store when I was no older than four. My Saturday mornings were soon filled with the Fox Kids line-up of X-Men, Batman (Yes, I do know it's DC) and Spiderman cartoons. While I've never been a comic book connoisseur, I have always appreciated good cartoons and movies and I'm not alone. Most everyone you talk to say that they include a comic book movie among their favorite flicks, most notably Batman, either Christopher Nolan's version or the Tim Burton/Michael Keaton films. If I was asked to pick a favorite, it would have been the original X-Men movie from 2000. I still haven't seen X-Men: First Class so I cannot compare though I will try and see it soon so I can share my thoughts. That being said, Captain America: The First Avenger may just have taken over as my favorite comic book movie.

Derby City Comic-Con This Weekend!

Okay, I admit it. I'm really sad that I won't be attending San Diego Comic-Con this year. After getting to know so many people in the community over the last year, I really would love to meet everyone in person. Hopefully the stars will be right next year for me to attend, but I'll just be with everyone in spirit and following along on Twitter.

If you're around Louisville, KY this weekend, stop in at the Kentucky International Convention Center for Derby City Comic-Con. Both Lexington and Louisville are home to many comic shops, all of which we'll be featuring here with Your Friendly Local Comic Shop. You can also find many collectibles at these stores and DCCC will feature some of the best artists, writers, and publishers in the comic business. Did you know that there are many Kentucky natives who have made it big in the comic world? Robert Kirkman, creator of The Walking Dead is from Central Kentucky. Artist Tony Moore whose work on The Walking Dead was nominated for two Eisner awards will be a guest at DCCC this year. Louisville native Jay Leisten (Marvel Comics), Marjorie Liu (Marvel Comics), and Bill Nichols (Comics Mentor) will be featured guests as well. There are many more artists who will be in attendance this year, so be sure to check it out.

Okay, no, this isn't about Team America: World Police, it's about Captain America! With less than a month to go before release, a new trailer for Captain America: The First Avenger went live today! And holy schniekies, is it amazing. The trailer doesn't skip a beat. I could prattle on about how star-studded this cast is (Tommy Lee Jones, Stanley Tucci, Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving, and Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark) but why don't you just watch this awesomeness for itself?
