The Shoe Project Launches Auctions!

If you stopped by the 501st Legion MidSouth Garrison's booth at Lexington Comic & Toy Convention this year, you probably saw some pretty cool footwear. The Garrison, in conjunction with VANS, is sponsoring The Shoe Project, in which artists design pairs of shoes with a Star Wars theme which are being auctioned on Ebay. Ranging from Han and Chewie on the Millennium Falcon to Boba Fett inspired treads, there are currently eight pairs of shoes on auction right now with proceeds to benefit the University of Kentucky Children's Hospital.

LCTC 2013: Even Better The Second Time Around

It took me a few days to gather my thoughts about Lexington Comic & Toy Con 2013. Not only did I want to find the right words to express how I felt about the whole experience, but honestly, I needed a couple of days off from writing. There was such exponential growth from LCTC 2012 to 2013. We saw the space double, but also the number of days of the convention. As a result, nearly 10,000 people were able to experience the con. That’s phenomenal. In no certain order, here are my thoughts about LCTC.

Join the 501st Legion at the LPL Tates Creek Branch TODAY!

Today, members of the 501st Legion will be helping the Lexington Public Library celebrate as they near the end of their Summer Reading Program. There's no specific program for the day, but members of the Legion will be at the library from 1-4 PM. It is not known which Star Wars characters will be showing up at the library today, so it will be a great surprise for everyone!

The Legion is an all-volunteer organization formed for the express purpose of bringing together costume enthusiasts under a collective identity within which to operate. The Legion seeks to promote interest in Star Wars through the building and wearing of quality costumes, and to facilitate the use of these costumes for Star Wars-related events as well as contributions to the local community through costumed charity and volunteer work. 

The Mid South Garrison is comprised of over 150 members from Kentucky and Tennessee. Head out to the Tate's Creek Branch today to support the library and see your favorite Star Wars characters.
